Continuing a Windsor Tradition

A name Windsor has
grown up with.

What started with one shop on Dougall Avenue in the 1960s has grown into a local franchise with 10 locations serving all of Windsor and Essex County.

For generations, Capri has brought friends and families together to celebrate birthdays, holidays and all the big and little moments in between.

For many of us, Capri Pizza brings back a nod to our childhood - its familiar flavours and faces and the memories that feel like home. That's what makes Capri more than just pizza. It's a Windsor tradition, passed down from one generation to the next.

Our Story

More than fifty years
in the making.

Circa 1960
Where it all began
Capri sits on Dougall Road as it is widened to two lanes. The original sign is visible at the edge of the photo.
1971
The original menu

1972
A family takes the reins
Mr. Kalaydjian purchases Capri Pizzeria from the existing owners, beginning a family stewardship that would span three generations.
1985
The first franchise
Capri opens its first franchise in the east end at Forest Glade to meet the demand of a growing base of loyal customers.
1987
The store next door
The original South Windsor store moves and expands into the building next door. In these years the family began working the restaurant after school and on weekends.
1995
The next generation
Mr. Kalaydjian passes the South Windsor operations to his son and partner Jim Koumoutsidis. The two were later featured together in a Windsor Star article on Capri.
2009
Ten locations strong
The Capri family reaches its tenth location, opening in Leamington, Ontario, bringing Capri pizza to all of Windsor and Essex County.
2016
A campus kiosk
A Capri kiosk opens at St. Clair College, serving slices of our pies to its hard-working students.
2017
A community honour
The city renames the South Windsor Arena the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex, a proud milestone in Capri history.
Today
Three generations later
More than fifty years on, Mr. Kalaydjian and his granddaughter Chloe, the third generation of the family, are still serving Capri’s famous pizzas.
